Individual
Emotional connection provides a sense of safety and security that is present in all healthy relationships. A lack of connection may lead to distress and a lack of emotional safety. Your self-concept and interpersonal relationships are affected by life experiences. A therapeutic relationship can provide the opportunity to learn more about yourself and ways in which your early experiences have shaped your view of self in the world. As part of developing a relationship with yourself, a number of therapeutic approaches including mindfulness and self-compassion may be helpful. Therapists at WestBridge are skilled in exploring issues and concerns that affect you as an individual.
Couple
When couples are in difficulty, they often struggle to communicate effectively and to maintain their connection to one another. Couple’s therapists work to provide a safe space for partners to express their needs and hopes for their relationship. As therapists, our goal is to help couples have a better understanding of what has led to their loss of connection and to find ways to repair the relationship. Our experienced therapists have training in a variety of therapeutic models that have evidence-based success.
Family
Family therapy is a model that has proven to be effective in repairing difficult or damaged family relationships. Family relationships are complex; problems among family members may be recent or may have a long history. Communication may be strained or may have broken down altogether. When the problem involves parents and young children or adolescents, it can be helpful to meet together with an experienced family therapist. There may also be challenges between parents and their adult children or amongst adult siblings. In these situations, there may be distance and even estrangements that stem from longstanding hurts. As family therapists, we seek to create a safe environment where family members can share their individual perspectives and work toward repairing relationships through better understanding and communication. A family therapist will guide conversations that provide a framework for greater understanding and healing.
